SPECIALIZED machinery is used by major producers of pecans. Royalty Pecan Farms in Burleson County encompass 560 acres of trees in the Brazos River bottom. Trees are shaken to release the pecans and cause them to fall to the ground. Then a special rake is used to push the pecans into windrows. The final step in gathering is picking up the windrows and separating the nuts from other debris. The pecans are then hauled back to a central location.
