Giddings and Dime Box firemen battled a 6-acre brush fire this afternoon
Giddings firemen were paged out to a brush fire on CR 120 this afternoon at approximately 2:04 p.m. Heavy brush made it a tough fight, and Dime Box VFD was called to assist. Due to the conditions and terrain, the dozers and air support were requested from the Texas Forest Service. Although aircraft were not available, the bulldozers were dispatched to Lee County. Fortunately, the local fire departments were able to contain the blaze, and the bulldozers were recalled. An estimated 6 acres was burned and firemen wrapped up the operation at about 4:30 p.m.
